Seattle, WA – August 28, 2008 – SepiaWave, LLC announced today that Susan Houston has been appointed Vice President of the company’s Software Systems. Ms. Houston brings over 20 years of leadership in the management of large-scale, real-time, safety-critical software systems for the aerospace industry. As VP Software Systems, her responsibilities include management and oversight of major systems software development, safety critical systems development, and software quality assurance. Previously, Ms Houston was with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for 15 years, holding several positions managing software development on new aviation programs including the Integrated Terminal Weather System, the Local Area Augmented Landing System, and the Air Route Surveillance Radar model 4 (ARSR-4). She has over 10 years experience with best practices for enterprise-wide improvement, leading the FAA’s acceptance of the Integrated Capability Maturity Model for software acquisition of major systems. She has experience with many international standards and models including ISO 9001:2000, EIA/IS 731, CMMI-SE/SW and CMMI-A, ISO/IEC 12207, and RTCA DO 178B/278. “This position with SepiaWave presents a unique opportunity to address many of the software process improvement issues that face our aerospace industry,” said Susan Houston. “I look forward to applying my air traffic management systems software acquisition experience to improve the performance of new and existing network-based data systems for all industry stakeholders.” Ms. Houston has a BSEE in EE/CS/Math from Vanderbilt University and has received several FAA awards for software process improvement and surveillance systems.
